Downpayment towards unique Essence Portrait Commission

This is a down payment for a unique basic Essence Portrait of yourself or a loved one.  A basic Essence Portrait is black on white background. Basic Essence Portraits can be stand-alone or used to create color images from scans of the basic Essence Portrait, which include, but are not limited to other works on canvas.

A down payment is the first step. It initiates the process, including phone interviews or personal meetings so the artist can become acquainted with the subject. This deposit includes working with the artist to determine texts to use as strokes, gather other information, explain the complete initial process, discuss and plan for additional versions of the basic portrait and products, and arrange for a photo shoot session if in the NYC area (this costs extra) or the gathering or creation by the client of useable photographs of the subject, photographs for which the client owns the copyrights.

Usually, the person commissioning a portrait is fairly easily able to supply what is needed by taking new photos of themselves or loved ones and scanning or sending them to the artist.

While most artists ask for half or one third of the cost initially, I do not as first I want to screen out any pranksters who are not serious but wish to discuss a potential portrait of one of history's criminals.

This deposit serves so that the artist can learn more about the subject of the portrait. Then, once we agree on the strokes to be used and workable photographs are provided (fairly easy and the artist has "walked" clients through this) then a deposit for half of the commission is required to proceed. A Basic Essence Portrait (black and white) on canvas is $2,500.00 USA.

Once client and artist are satisfied with the Basic Essence Portrait then other variations, including using colors can also be added, either to the original canvas or to additional works, ad the basic portrait ca be scanned and printed out.

Also basic or modified portraits have been additionally used for invitations, on gifts or party favors, and thank you notes or cards. Portraits may be used to commemorate a special occasion, as a gift, or for a professional as a statement piece of art that says more than a photograph or any other portrait  as all of the strokes are original letters of Bible texts.

but wish to commission portraits of peopl This deposit hardly begins to cover the artist's time for this stage and is therefore non-refundable.
